Essay

The positive self-image of a person as the basis of the semantic structure of the self-glorifying utterances has been determined and semantic classification of the investigated units has been worked out. The utterance of boasting is regarded as a positive, often idealized self-representation of a speaker, his or her own qualities and actions in the most favorable light. Speech acts of boasting are realized in the potentially-conflict manipulative authoritarian self-glorifying discourse and are characterised by violation of the main principles of politeness.
