The dissertation deals with the comprehensive analysis of pictographic elements in Computer-Mediated Communication. The research focuses on lingo-cognitive peculiarities of Avatar, Smiley, Emoticons, Zlango, Leet-speak and ASCII art and their role in the linguistics of electronic text. Typographic, structural and meaningful components of cyber language system have been researched.
