Essay

The dissertation is a comprehensive analysis of the traditionalist and modernist aspects of Anglicanism in its history and its modern transformation in the context of philosophical discourse Religions. It constitutes a new conceptual framework for understanding Anglicanism; can serve as auxiliary material for historical, sociological and religious researches on religion in the context of globalization; and is another resource for promoting deeper understanding of Anglican theological tradition in its connection with social life. Its argument in effect is that Anglicanism cultivated an authentic humanism by seeking to fix the fundamental equality of all people before God, regardless of age, sex, nationality, ethnicity or social status. Central to it is a doctrine of man that operates bi-directionally, accommodating changes which reflect the socio-cultural transformation of the era, and simultaneously influencing the processes of Western European secularization. Consequently, such processes are reflective of religious innovations and determine current trends and direction of the evolution of the Christian faith. The upshot is that this Church denomination that was spread globally through colonization and missionary work is characterized by seemingly contradictory approaches, conservative-traditionalist and liberal-modernist, nevertheless, has a strong influence in the world on religious attitudes and modern culture. Keywords: Anglicanism, Anglican Church, Protestantism, modernity, traditionalism, liberalism, religiosity, missionary.
