Essay

The procedures for instrumented indentation testing of metals according to the requirements of the Standard ISO 14577 under laboratory and industrial conditions in the macro range of indentation forces have been improved and the corresponding testing units have been created. New procedures for determining the ultimate strength and Brinell hardness have been developed that are based on force versus plastic component of indentation depth curves.
