The thesis is dedicated to research of the systemic structure and cognitive patterns of derivation and motivation of terminology of information technologies in modern Chinese language, as well as description of its subject concept and language system relations. From the standpoint of composition, productive methods include compounding, transposition, contraction and semiaffixation, with sporadic usage of pure affixation and complete absence of reduplication. From the standpoint of motivational analysis, IT terminology system of Chinese language has the following motivation types: propositive-dictum (hyper-/hyponymic, category, predicative-argumentative), modus, associative-terminus (structural-metaphoric, diffuse-metaphoric, gestalt), mixed concept-integrative motivation, and pseudomotivation. The author has analyzed considerable volume of IT terminology to find those linguistic relations, and compiled a dictionary that is useful for translation of texts in respective field of science. Those motivation types also enabled performing thesaural modeling of relations between IT terms in Chinese language, which also shows application of cognitive approach in linguistics.
