Davydenko I. Synthesis and investigation of properties of polymethine dyes derived from benzo[cd]furo[2,3-f]indole

The thesis is devoted to the elaboration of efficient methods for the synthesis of new heterocyclic compounds, namely benzo[cd]furo[2,3-f]indole and 7,8-dihydrobenzo[cd]furo[2,3-f]indole, as well as long-wavelength polymethine dyes (PDs) derived from them. The vinylogous series of the symmetrical PDs, unsymmetrical and intraionoid PDs, derived from new heterocycles have been synthesized and their spectral properties have been studied. Based on the benzo[cd]furo[2,3-f]indole and 7,8-dihydrobenzo[cd]furo[2,3-f]indole nuclei, the 1,2-bishetarylethylidene radical-cations have been first obtained which are stable both in solution and in the solid state. Their electronic spectra exhibit an intense "cyanine" band in the near-IR region.
