Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the problem of the wholeness parameters in V. Silvestrov’s creative paradigm. The wholeness of the composer’s conceptual linguistic system is considered in its relevancy to the postmodernist system of thinking. This is characterized with the paradoxical principles of the wholeness becoming such as fragmentation (multiplicity, plurality, iterativity, heterogenity), differing, deconstruction of the system. The correlat ability of Sylvestrov’s paradigm and two most important conceptions of the post-structuralistic philosophy funding the postmodern culture such as “differance” by J. Derrida and “intertextuality” by J. Kristeva and R. Barthes is demonstrated. The analysis of relation between modernistic paradigm and postmodernistic one is carried out. The determining role of the tradition in the postmodernistic paradigm is proved. This gives the ability to consider the “post” status as a source of nostalgic, postlusional, elegic frame of mind that is typical one in Sylvestrov’s misic. The projection of main postmodernistic principles proposed by I. Hassan on Sulvestrov’s musical language is considered. This one based on the substantials phenomenon of the metamusicality by specific rhetorical secondariness according to the postmodernistic position. The key categories of Sylvestrov’s dramaturgy such as metamusicality, postlusionality, eleginess are considered in the conception of differance by J. Derrida. Such coreferential principles of Silvestrov’s and Derrida’s conceptions as variative reiteration, unity of permanence and disruption (by the means of silence, extinetion and relation between the elements), detention, delay, defer (the “trace” principle).
