Essay

This dissertation is the first complex analysis of life and scholarly work of L. Wynar, the famous Ukrainian-American Historian. Medieval history of Ukraine, the Cossack era, modern Ukrainian history, history of book printing, methodology of historiography, Hrushevskyj studies and the personality theme have been subjects of Wynar's research. The scholar's activity in Shevchenko Scientific Society, Ukrainian Free Academy of Science and Arts in the USA, Ukrainian Historical Association, World Scholarly Council have contributed enormously to the development of the historical science in general. Wynar is also known in American science as a researcher of ethnic studies and bibliography.
