The purprose: to determine the poetic features and thematic predominant features of the small prose of E. Ozheshko and the Ukrainian novelettes of the end of the 19th - the beginning of the 20th century with a help of typological comparison on the background of the creative contacts of the writers.The practical meaning is that the materials of the work may used in the literary researches, in the lecture courses. Mеthods: comparative-historical, comparative-typological, contextual, historical-literary, biographical, the method of the hermeneutic analysis.
