The object: is memoir authorial commentary as a genre variety of modern documentary prose. Purpose: is to reveal specific features of authorial commentary as a genre, its place in modern literary process, the reasons of secession from margins to the centre of memoir fundamental principle. Practical value: of the thesis is determined by the fact that the given material can be applied in giving 'The Theory of Literature', and 'The History of Literature' courses: while writing course, diploma or master theses. Methods: the comparative historical method, biographical method, hermeneutical and comparative methods in our research.
