Object: novels "Richynsky Sisters" by Iryna Vilde and "The Bulwark" by Theodore Dreiser. Objective: to define the genre varieties of social-psychological novels by Vilde and Dreiser, to determine the regularities of narrative structures in the novels in comparative aspect. Practical significance: The results and findings can be used in the process of the history of Ukrainian literature (XXth century) teaching, the history of foreign literature and the literature of the USA, special courses of genre theory and narratology. Methods: biographical, comparative and typological, psychological, archetypal, cultural and historical method, narratological and poetical method.
