Yakubovych M. Interpretations of the History of Religion by the Islamic Traditionalists (the Classical and Post-Classical Age)

The dissertation presents the results of the composite research of the Islamic traditionalism (classical (9th-14th century) and the post-classical (15th-19th century) periods) in relation to the interpretation of the monotheistic and polytheistic religions. Using the considerable resource material, the part of which is introduced to the scientific turnover for the first time, the development of the views on other religions by Sunni traditionalists ibn Taymiyah, ibn al-Qayim, adh-Dhahabi, ibn Rajab, ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab and others is being studied. In-depth analysis of the traditionalistic method of the evaluation of the various religions is presented in dissertation as well. The historical factors, which influenced this method and its development, are being noted.
