Essay

The dissertation deals with problem of sense of life in polish neo-Thomism. The peculiarities of understanding of person and sense of human life in Christian philosophical tradition are shown. It is stressed upon the fact that tomistic philosophy is the unique synthesis of ancient culture and well-developed Christian theological system. The Lublin philosophical school of neotomism is seemed to be the part of so called philosophia perrenis which criticizes the post-modernistic attempts to deconstruct major philosophical concepts, categories and meta-narratives. The content of such notions as subject, personality self-realization is revealed and its connection with essence and nature of man is shown. The transcendental condition of a personality is man's ego and self-dependence from itself. Thus ego constitutes man's freedom. The prominent idea of neo-thomistic ethics is that men's life is intended to final goal, which is regarded to be the highest good, beatitude, absolute.
