The given paper provides the complex analysis of the Susan Warner's novels of the American renaissance period within the problem and poetological aspects. The historic, cultural and literary background of the age is determined as a factor of influence on the Susan Warner's creative method. The main themes, motives, characters, plot and compositional features of the author are defined. Peculiarities of onomasticon, literary and historic allusions, Bible intertext as a narrative feature of the Susan Warner's novels are revealed. "The Wide, Wide World", "Queechy", "The Hills of the Shatemuc" are analysed as a synthetic phenomenon within the adapted genre patterns of romance, woman's novel, domestic fiction novel, sentimental novel, woman spiritual bildungsroman, with a considerable emphasis on the romance elements. Synthesis of the above mentioned elements results in "The Wide, Wide World" as the first American bestseller, providing Susan Warner the significant place in the American literature of the second half of the 19th century.
