Essay

The thesis outlines a new approach to contrastive and typological study of anthroponymycon in the USA and Ukraine. New complex methods of anthroponym comparison in the English and Ukrainian languages were developed. The pre-Christian, Christian and post-Christian world anthroponymycons were analyzed in the historical and cultural sense; an inventory of anthroponyms according to the anthroponimical formula of English-American and Ukrainian linguistic cultures was compiled. The research revealed peculiarities of the semantic structure of anthroponyms as linguistic signs and as concise national and cultural texts. The antroponyms model general and specific situations as identification and characteristics both of name bearers and anthroponominators of different discourses. The common consistent patterns and diversities of up-to-date national American and Ukrainian anthroponymycons were determined.
