Essay

The thesis contains theoretical and methodological approaches to improve the statistical analysis of the causes of mortality at the regional level. The paper describes the main historical aspects of the methodology of studying mortality, revealed the features of modern mortality in Ukraine, the main theoretical approaches to the demographic crisis and stated reasons for the current demographic crisis in Ukraine. Calculated potential of life, allowing us to analyze its dynamics and structure, to investigate potential changes depending on the mode of death, abundance and population structure. The factor analysis of the effects of demographic and socioeconomic factors on mortality, the regressive model, which allows you to objectively evaluate the influence of some factors on the level and dynamics of mortality to make the right decisions about management of social policy. We suggested the method and the complex tables of mortality by causes of death for the Odessa region, which allows to quantify the reserves decrease mortality and increase life expectancy at the regional level.
