Semykina L. Extortion according to the Criminal Code of Ukraine

The complex of defining issues of extortion as a separate category of criminal law which is provided by several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is researched. Formation of the penal institution, its content in legislations of some foreign countries are analyzed. The concept, legal nature and place of extortion as a category of criminal law in the system of criminal law standards are defined. Some inconsistencies and contradictions in the formulation of articles are established. A new wording of extortion according to the article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and its improving of qualification is offered.
