Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the research of the interpretations of problems of Ukraine’s history in Polish historical science of the period between two World Wars. The peculiarities of the historiographical reflections on the events of Ancient Russ period, on the social, political and cultural life of Ukrainian lands within the Polish-Lithuanian state, on the history of Cossacks, on the process of national revival of the Ukrainian people in the nineteenth century are studied. The main traditions of the revealing of the problems of the historical Ukrainian study and its rethinking in the Polish historical science of the definite period are analyzed. The significance of myths and stereotypes in the interpretation of Ukrainian issues by the Polish scientists is characterized. It was proved, that the ideological, social and political processes which were taking place in Polish society in the period named above largely influenced on the assessment of the Ukraine’s past events in the works of historians.
