Bridko T. Sociolinguistic peculiarities of the German pronunciation of the migrants from the former USSR

The dissertation is devoted to a study of realization of non-standard pronunciation forms in the German speech of the Russian speaking migrants who live in Germany. The material for this research consists of the records of the German speech of Russian speaking migrants in different communicative situations. The study is based on the theory of language contacts which includes such important phenomena as bilingualism, linguistic interference and communicative situation. On the basis of the comparison of phonemic systems of Russian and German, new experimental data have been collected and analyzed. The study of the realization of the segmental level elements in the German pronunciation of the Russian speaking migrants living in Germany allows determining the correlation between the realization of the socio-phonetic variables and such extra-linguistic factors as the communicative situation, age and gender of a speaker.
