Essay

The thesis highlights clinical and immunopathogenic aspects of differentiation of generalized periodontitis (GP) depending on the rapidity of the progression of pathological process. Immunopathogenesis of different GP forms has been compared with immunologic, histological and electron microscopic methods. 76 patients with GP, among them 45 patients with ChGP and 31 patients with RPP, have been examined. On the basis of differences of certain immunologic indicators the first prognostic mathematical model to determine the form of CP has been elaborated. Immunohistochemistry study of expression patterns mucin 1 in the mucosa of the oral cavity of GP patients has shown substantial decrease in mucin layer, alteration of microbial medium, especially in RPP. Based on electron microscopic method, it has been detected that in gingival mucosa in ChGP there has been an activation of epitheliocytes and endotheliocytes with their tendency to phagocytosis.
