The results of research of kidnapping committed by the criminal groups are generalized. It is studied the nature and their characteristic features. On the basis of the analysis of the theoretical concepts and practice is explored the contents of the basic elements of the criminalistic characteristics, their interrelations are detected and described. The basic purpose of the work is definition of the features of the initial stage of investigation of kidnapping committed by the criminal groups resulting the consideration of the problems of institution of criminal proceeding, the solution of the typical investigative situations, the definition of the features of interaction of the investigator and the operative subdivisions, the carrying out of the investigation actions, etc. Research has become the practical implementation in the methodical recommendations developed on its basis for law enforcers.
