Theoretical and methodological fundamentals of economic diagnostics have been summarized in the paper. Subject area, objectives, principles and tools of economic diagnostics have been defined. Problem situation - low effectiveness of activity of recreational enterprises in the recent years has been identified. A model of formation of diagnostic index of recreational enterprise state, which takes into account the parameters of aspects to diagnose (resource, organizational, production, market position), has been proposed. It provides quantitative characteristic of enterprise state and identifies its economic diagnosis.
