Sukhomlyn V. Subjective Modality in Contemporary German Media Discourse: Semantic and Structural Aspects

The thesis deals with studying semantic and structural aspects of subjective modality in modern German Media discourse. During the research the main criteria of the category of modality and its kinds were defined; differentiating features of linguistic modality were named; the approaches of home and foreign linguists to studying the nature of modality were analyzed; the main concepts of modality in works of linguists were described; extralinguistic factors influencing the choice of language and speech means of expressing subjective modality were studied; ways of modality studying in functional grammar were made specific; the method of research of structural composition peculiarities of functional semantic microfield of subjective modality was proposed.
