Essay

Based on experimental data and empirical equations the energy level diagram of Ln2+, Ln3+ ions in LiYP4O12 has been constructed. Quantum cutting processes for Pr3+ and Gd3+ ions in polyphosphate compounds have been revealed. The increasing of the cerium luminescence efficiency for LiPrP4O12:Ce3+ and for LiGdP4O12:Ce3+ due to the energy transfer process between the lanthanide ions upon high-energy excitation are demonstrated.
