The thesis deals with forming and developing the legal status of the judges of the Zaporizhzhya Forces during the Cossak-Hetman time. The normative legal acts the historiography of the problem are considered and analyzed. The characteristic of the periods of investigation the mentioned problem and the sources concerning the institution of judiciary in the Cossack environment, its formation on the traditions of customary law and legal norms of that time is given. The theoretical peculiarities of the legal status of a judge as a scientific category are clarifield.
