This research focuses on revealing linguistic cognitive and cultural properties of the ethnocultural picture of the world in the African American poetry. The ethnocultural picture of the world is represented in ethnocultural verbal poetic images and peculiarities of rhythmic and syntactic organization of African American blues, jazz and rap poetry as the syntactic space of ethnocultural senses. The study provides an inferential analysis of poetic text semantics. Ethnocultural verbal poetic images are divided into archetypal, stereotypal and new ones. Endostereotyped and exostereotyped verbal poetic images are viewed as subtypes of stereotypal verbal poetic images. Interpolation and extrapolation are defined as extralinguistic factors of ethnocultural verbal poetic images formation. Conceptual amalgam is a linguistic cognitive operation of ethnocultural senses formation. Ethnocultural images formation is realized by means of substitutive, analogical and constructive creative mapping. It is revealed that the dominant syntactic structure of African American blues poetry is glissando, jazz poetry - legato and staccato, rap poetry - staccato. Key words: ethnocultural picture of the world, ethnoconcept, ethnocultural verbal poetic image, ethnocultural sense, linguocultureme, archetypal, endostereotyped, exostereotyped, new verbal poetic image.
