Essay

For the first time within the population of newborns a subset of children with elevated levels of total IgE in umbilical cord blood and increased risk for realization of atopy according to the allergy history was identified. Analysis of the nature of clinical manifestations of allergy in newborns of 6 and 12 months, evaluation of relative risk rates of allergy onset and study of the combined effects of feeding and congenital risk proves that the first year of life (especially first 6 months) is critical to development of allergic pathology.
