Essay

Compared to elderly healthy subjects, elderly DU patients showed low intragastral pH at night and high parietal Н+,К+-АТPase activity. Parasympathetic activity at night and throughout 24 hours in elderly versus young patients was lower. In addition, the former showed the disturbed relationship between GAPF and interdigestive gastric motility. Furthermore, the influence of parasympathetic autonomic nervous system on interdigestive gastric motility in elderly patients with acute DU was lesser than in their healthy counterparts.
