Essay

This thesis reports on a study of lexical-semantic, typological and cognitive aspects of modern American and Ukrainian political discourse. Convergent and divergent features in values orientation of both countries are demonstrated; common characteristics in gender "marking" of political statements of the USA and Ukraine are shown; peculiarities in the evolution of both countries’ political vocabularies are described, allusion and metaphor role of the United States of America and Ukraine in enriching their discourse is established.
