Customs system in Ukraine. The development of theoretical and practical recommendations for improving the mechanisms of public administration of the adaptation of the customs system of Ukraine to European requirements. The methods of research used are: comparative analysis, extrapolation method, systems method, analytical method, the method of functional analysis. Revealed are some trends in the evolution of customs services of the countries with transitional economies (the case of Central and Eastern Europe) in order to establish a positive experience in the management processes of adaptation of the customs system of Ukraine to European requirements. Grounded is the concept of "institutional mechanisms of public administration of the processes of adaptation of the customs system of Ukraine to European requirements" as a system of actions aimed at adapting national norms, organizational structure, personnel policy in the customs system of Ukraine to European requirements and standards of EU and WCO and formulate proposals for their improvement. The results have been implemented in the State Customs Service of Ukraine, the Council on Foreign Economic Activity under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Academy of Customs Service of Ukraine.
