Objekt: Graham Greene's novels. Aim: to reexamine the philisophical and aesthetic dominants of modernist prose by Graham Greene wich the help of the concept of tragic irony. Methods: polycritical, cultural-historical. Scientific novelty: for the first time in the Ukrainian literary studies the works of Graham Greene are examined from the point of view of tragic irony, wich allows to re-consider the intellectual and spiritual concepts of his prose and to offer a new interpretation of key novels by the writer.
