Chernysh N. "The Chinese Travelogue" by O. Sedakova in the context of dialogue with traditional cultures.

The objects are works by O. Sedakova, texts of the Chinese classical culture. The The aim is to study "The Chinese Travelogue" by O. Sedakova in a wide context of historical and cultural communications. The methods are historical-literary and comparative analysis; semiotics, reception, intertextual, transcultural approaches. The research is the first attempt in the Ukrainian comparative literature that focuses on the analysis of Chinese cultural milieu (philosophy; poetic and graphic landscape arts) in O. Sеdakova's book. The focus is not only on cultural "contact zones", consciously or unconsciously exhibited in her poetic cycle, but also on the wide context of oriental themes and styles that dominated Russian literature of the 20th century as well as on the context of O. Sedakova's other poems. These Russian and Chinese perspectives reveal main denominators of O.Sedakova's variable dialogue with cultures, both unique and premeditated particularity of the text. The comparative approach governs the choice of main 'precedent texts' ("Tao Te Ching", "I Ching", Shih Ching, poems by Li Bai, Wang Wei, Sikong Tu) and invokes receptive-interpretative strategies for considering "I Ching" within the text attribution problem.
