The dissertation introduces into the Ukrainian Literary Criticism the conception of immanent poetics of Emil Staiger. The thesis generalizes the evolution of a literary work interpretation in German Literary Criticism till the 1950s; establishes the landmarks of Staiger's biography; analyzes the main postulates of Staiger's conception, interprets the philosophical context of Staiger's ideas (his discussion with М. Heidegger on the problem of time in a literary work and interpreting the poetry as embodiment of true being). The dissertation specifies the influence of Staiger's heritage on the development of European Literary Criticism.
