Proschenko A. Argumentation of the temporary prostheses' use in a complex treatment of the temporo-mandibular dysfunction

The thesis is dedicated to the treatment and subsequent management of the patients with dysfunction of the temporo-mandibular joint. The work proves the influence of the occlusal disorders on the function of masticatory muscles and temporo-mandibular joint, basing on the results of examination and treatment. The authors have invented a unified mechanism of pathogenetic treatment of the temporo-mandibular joint dysfunction. Relaxation of the masticatory muscles and determination of the central occlusion and intraalveolar height was performed by using the occlusive splint. There has been offered a method of imprinting the mandibular joint position into an articulator and planning the treatment with wax modeling. The authors have grounded the necessity of use of the temporary prostheses for the complete formation of the occlusive surfaces and myostatic reflex to reach integration and coordinated functioning of all elements of the dental-mandibular apparatus. The application of the achieved results using the temporary prostheses in the permanent ones provides for the retention of the occlusion ratio at coordinated function of all elements of the dental-mandibular apparatus.
