There was established that the 13C- and H2-lactose breath tests are reliable, non-invasive, methodologically simple. They should be considered as the methods of choice for detection of lactase deficit. The method of anamnestic self-determination has poor diagnostic accuracy and mustn't be used in clinical practice in presence of the methods of choice. In the study there was found out that clinic of functional bowel diseases depends on the intensity of lactase deficit. Lactase deficit could be divided on mild and severe degrees. Partially limited lactose free diet in patients with mild lactase deficit is as effective as total lactose free diet. Total lactose free diet is the only effective therapeutic method in patients with severe lactase deficit.
