This research is dedicated to investigation of gastrointestinal motor function violation with lactulose hydrogen breath test (LHBT) in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Diagnostic parameters of LHBT were investigated. The most correct orocaecal transit (OCT) time estimation method was identified. Normal OCT time values were established in healthy volunteers. Associations of IBS symptoms severity with OCT status and basal hydrogen level were studied. Approaches to differential treatment of IBS, depending on OCT status and basal exhale hydrogen value were developed.
