Essay

The thesis is devoted to aspects of endogenous phytohormones allocation in growing maize stem. We studied the anatomical and cytological features of growing internodes, which are characterized by the presence of meristem, elongation zone and zone of mature cells. It was shown that cells of different growing zones have clearly different ultrastructure. Meristematic cells are small with electron dense cytoplasm. Nucleus has a high contrast envelope, nucleoplasm characterized by high homogeneity, nucleolus has considerable size, mitochondria are round shaped, evenly distributed in the cytoplasm, plastids are represented by typical amiloplasts with more or less oval shape and have one, rarely two or three starch grains
