Hladkoskok L. Adjectives with the meaning of "light" and "dark" in the modern English language: semantics, syntagmatics, paradigmatics

The thesis presents the simplified inventory procedure algorithm of the lexico-semantic group with the help of component and quantitative methods. The semantic and lexical collocations of the investigated adjectives are studied, the basic characteristics of the given collocations are described, including intensity, width and selectivity. The interdependence between them is also determined. The associative and emotive components of the lexico-semantic group are explicated with the help of the so-called word-conductors. The paradigmatic relationships of the adjectives are investigated by the means of the correlation analysis. The inventory procedure methods of a lexical microsystem and detecting their syntagmatic and paradigmatic characteristics can be successfully used to study concepts in order to explicate and verbalize them.
