Danylovych O. Combinability of adjectives with nouns in the modern English language (on the material of publicistic, scientific and belle-lettres styles)

The comprehensive analysis of the combinability of adjectives with nouns in belle-lettres, publicistic and scientific styles is performed in the modern English language. The statistic parameters of usage of adjectives with nouns in different styles of the modern English language are distinguished, a comparative characteristic of syntagmatic and paradigmatic ties in three functional styles is done, the factors which influence on the combinability of adjectives with nouns in each functional style are determined. The realization of combinability probabilities of adjectives which either allow, limit or prohibit combinability probabilities of adjectives in three functional styles is described.
