Essay

The evolutionary genesis of the screenplay as an authentic genre form is examined. The vagueness of the screenplay margins is articulated in the genological plane. The developmental autonomy of the screenplay is proved by the fundamental orientation to the peculiar type of reception ("reader-viewer"). The prominent Ukrainian screenplays that gave us possibility to make the first conclusions about the new genre forms are examined separately. The most important features that prove the original genre authenticity of a screenplay are architectonically-compositional (editing, chronotope) and narrative levels, system of personages peculiarity, intertextual and intermedial features.
