Essay

The dissertation on conferring candidate's degree of Art, speciality 17.00.03 - Musical Art. - Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music, of Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, Kyiv, 2011. The dissertation is dedicated to consideration of unmeasured prelude in the context of XVII - XVIII c. musical culture. Such aspect of research permitted not only to clarify essentially the conception of prelude's place and role both in historic and modern practice of performance, but also to reveal its real importance: unmeasured harpsichord prelude may be considered as a peculiar point of intersection of important phenomena of musical art of Baroque epoch. So comprehension of its nature gives us possibility to understand deeper the main complex of performing practice phenomena complex of the epoch that is: harpsichord style luth?, Basso continuo, ornamentation technique, art of improvisation. If we take into consideration the specificity of its notation, prelude becomes, in a certain sense, uniting link between treaties and musical compositions written in the ordinary way (with fixed metre-rhyhtm). Due to this fact work with it takes us to a new level of comprehension of improvisation practice of the epoch.
