Essay

The thesis deals with the issue of treatment of the patients with phlegmons of the maxillofacial area. Development and healing of purulent wounds of the soft tissues of the maxillofacial area in three clinical groups of patients have bееn investigated. Each group included 30 patients, both mеn and women aged from 18 to 60 without concomitant somatic pathology. All the groups revealed various localization of the focus of inflammation invading оnе or two areas. Odontogenic phlegmons were found in 72,2%; nonodontogenic phlegmons - 27,8%: osteoph1egmons - 14,4%, adenoph1egmons - 10%, purulonecrotic forms - 3,3% of the patients with predominant submandibular location.New pathogenetically grounded method of treating phlegmons of the maxillofacial area using medicine Lymphomyosot Н has bееn developed and introduced into clinical practice. This method of treatment of phlegmons of the maxillofacial area was proven to accelerate purification of the wounds and their healing bу secondary intention with less pronounced intoxication, shorten post-operative period and increase activity of the indices of cellular and humoral immunity. The investigation has conclusively shown that application of Lymphomyosot Н immediately preceding and following the surgery up to disappearance of the symptoms is indicated in order to increase resistance of the organism and shorten the terms of treatment.
