The thesis suggests a new approach to comparative and historical study of binary structure of space in French, English and Ukrainian languages; introduces a complex methodology for contrasting the nominations denoting space objects both in synchronic and diachronic aspects in differently structured languages; defines a differentiated binary structure of space in language perception of the representatives of French, English and Ukrainian ethnic cultures; reveals qualitative changes in evolutional development of binary structure of space in three languages, contrasts functional potential of space nominations in French, English and Ukrainian folklore sources and fiction texts.
