Essay

The dissertation is devoted to studies on the structure and noncovalent interactions of the single-walled carbon nanotubes with polynucleotides of different structural organizations. It has been revealed that, upon sonication and in the aqueous environment, comparatively long fragments of single-stranded DNA (70-150 nm) wrap as a spindle in many layers around the nanotube. For the first time, aqueous suspension of the nanohybrids formed by fragmented double-stranded DNA and nanotubes has been obtained and the model of the nanohybrid has been proposed. The structure and interaction energies were established for complexes of canonical nucleic acid bases with carbon nanotubes and graphene.
