The thesis deals with the issues of the use of special knowledge in the field of medicine during the investigation of crimes. The genesis of the use of special medical knowledge is developed; the historical stages of its regulatory and the scientific support of this activity are emphasizes. The concept of special medical knowledge is formulated, the purpose and the subjects of their application are determined, the types of forensic medical examinations are highlighted, their characteristics and the possibilities to establishment the truth of the case are explored. The recommendations on the evaluation of the expert's conclusion by the investigator are substantiated.
