Essay

Envelope functions for reflectance and transmittance spectra of multilayer structures have been determined. Conditions at which in the spectra of multilayer structures there is an optical beating are proved. Angular pseudo-Brewster antireflection conditions and antireflection conditions for multilayer structure as expressions for phase thicknesses of two arbitrary layers have been found out with the help of envelope functions. By the instrumentality of obtained antireflection conditions, new methods of designing of the narrow bandpass filters have been proposed. Methods of definition of optical constants and thicknesses of layers are developed for plane parallel structure by the instrumentality of the obtained functions for envelopes.
