Essay

The thesis is devoted to defining features of iron metabolism, changes in levels of endogenous erythropoietin and soluble transferrin receptor in patients with CHC under the influence of combination antiviral therapy. It was found that in patients with CHC serum iron levels were increased in 1.2 times compared with healthy controls and ferritin levels exceeded the same index in 5.3 and 3.8 times in males and females, respectively. It was revealed that under the influence of combined antiviral therapy the level of serum iron in patients with CHC was reduced at the 12th week, and at the same time there was no difference between the levels in healthy people, while the levels of serum ferritin increased in 1.9 times compared to initial level regardless of the answer to therapy. It was shown that increasing of sTfR levels in 1.4 times in responders and in 1.3 times in non-responders at 12th week of AVT were observed.
