Essay

The thesis is the first attempt in modern national history of literature to analyse Peter Turrini's masterpiece as the representative of popular play traditions in Austria. Author's plays, their problematics, poetics, art features are systematically analysed and the organic relation with popular drama is defined in the work. The reformatory role of P. Turrini in the development of the German literature, in dramatic art in particular, is also investigated. Complex research of Peter Turrini's dramatic art gives grounds to ascertain that almost in all plays the author addresses social problematics, condemns a consumer society, wants to see people economically independent, forces the characters to search other way of life, to win a personal liberty, provokes the reader/spectator.
