Essay

The thesis examines the process of the monetary system formation in the Middle and Lower Dnieper and Southern Bug regions after the finishing of the so-called «coinless period». The work is based on the previously published and unpublished numismatic materials, part of which is introduced into the scientific turn for the first time. The composition of the monetary treasures and single finds of the coins were analyzed. The author composed their metric and iconographic characteristics. The functioning of the Mongol coin centers is examined. Among them it is allocated three main centers: – Horde, is located throughout the outskirts of the village Velyki Kuchugury (Zaporizhzhya region); a few centers without clear localization in the Lower Dnieper region, which production is concentrated in the massive finds in the modern Kherson region; mint Horde Bazaar (1), is located in the Dnieper-Bug estuary area (Kherson region). The peculiarities of the Juchi’s coins local imitations, as well as their role in the development of local monetary case were discovered. It was also studied the coinage of the regular and unregular nature.
