The dissertation is devoted to the complex studies of epistolary heritage by an outstanding Ukrainian historian and public figure D.I.Bahalii (1857-1932). Discovered correspondence consists of 1579 items. Only the small part of it has been published (135 letters, 8,5 per cent). A great number of letters is still kept in state archives and in funds of libraries manuscript collections. Most of the sources are represented within this study for the first time. D.I.Bahalii's correspondence has been systematized; its archaeographical features have been identified; thematic differentiation has been made. The information on the places where the letters are kept, the quantity of letters, the periods of correspondence, the editions where they are published has been covered in the supplements. D.I.Bahalii's correspondence makes up a unified complex of materials necessary for thorough and detailed studying the history of Ukraine of the relevant period. It also provides the possibility for extending the source base for studying corresponding issues of domestic history.
